Video: Phila. Building Trades endorse Specter
Last week in front of an oveflowing crowd of more than 200 supporters, the 77,000 member strong Philadelphia Building Trades Council unanimously endorsed Sen. Arlen Specter for re-eleciton. It was the first major endorsement by organized labor in the Democratic Senate primary.
Philadelphia Building Trades President Pat Gillespie called Senator Specter a “seasoned veteran,” and praised Specter's career-long fight to create jobs, protect workers' safety, raise the minimum wage, and rebuild Pennsylvania's infrastructure. “This is an important person to have working for our members,” Gillespie said.
Wayne Miller, head of the Sprinklerfitters Union, thanked Senator Specter for being a reliable voice in Washington. “I can aways count on him. I can always say, Senator Specter will be with us, and I thank him for that.”
